The interesting part is not the output — every plug-in heater in America is 1,500 W — it is that a heater this small and this cheap publishes three safety features that units in its class routinely omit: a tip-over switch, overheat protection and a cool-touch housing.

The real limitation: you cannot set a temperature

The thermostat is an adjustable dial without numbers. You can set it to a position; you cannot set it to 68°F. That sounds like a small thing and it is the most expensive thing on this specification sheet.

A heater that overshoots to 73°F when you wanted 68°F burns the difference every hour it runs, and with an unmarked dial you find the right position by trial and error — which in practice means most people set it high and open a window. Over a winter, a digital thermostat in 1°F increments is worth more than any element technology. Why overshoot is the largest avoidable cost.

The circuit question, which its size disguises

A small heater draws exactly as much current as a large one at the same wattage: 1,500 ÷ 120 = 12.5 A. Tucked under a desk it looks like an accessory, but on the circuit it is the largest load in the room, and a 15 A branch circuit allows only 12 A continuous.
